Path ordered operator formalism of gauge theories in two-dimensional space-time
Description
Two-dimensional gauge theories, both abelian and non-abelian, are formulated in terms of gauge invariant path ordered operators (POO). The generators of the Poincare group are constructed with POO's. An exact equation of motion for POO's is derived and is shown to reduce to the 't Hooft eigenvalue equation in QCD in the lange N limit. Nowhere appear infrared problems. (orig.)
