A comparative study of thermal and resonance neutron activation analysis using the monostandard method

Description

A comparative study on the applicability of the monostandard neutron activation technique by thermal and resonance neutrons for the analyses of multielement bearing phosphate samples has been made. The data from the two methods show a consistency of about 8% on the average. The reasons for this deviation have been discussed. The data obtained from the analysis of the phosphate samples indicate that the two methods can be applied on a large scale in routine analysis of multielement traces bearing samples. A correction for the interference contribution of some isotopes which are produced by fission of the uranium contents in the phosphate ore samples during the irradiation has been estimated
