Description
The diffractive hadron-nucleus cross sections are evaluated in a model where the exchanged strings fuse if they are close in the impact parameter space. The resulting total diffractive cross sections are larger than in the Glauber model. The cross sections for the inelastic dissociation of the nucleus are much smaller than in Glauber-like models and reasonably agree with the experimental data
