Device for shunting accelerating resonator

Description

The invention deals with RF systems of synchrotrons and storage rings. The purpose of the invention is to increase shunting effect of the device in an accelerating resonator. The device comprises a coaxial line, coaxial resonator, absorbing element and commutation elements. The commutation elements are installed between the cone of the external line conductor and the face wall of the coaxial resonator; the internal conductor of the line is connected with this wall; the absorbing element is located between the external and internal conductors of the resonator. Shunting of the accelerating resonator is provided at the expense of coupling with low Q coaxial resonator through the transforming part of the line. Essential increase of the number of parallel connected commutation elements may be realized in the given device that makes it possible to increase current-carrying ability of the key and to reduce power losses in it without decrease of shunting effect of the device. Higher current loads may be realized in the device and a probability of arising instabilities resulting in beam loss reduces
