Description
An effect of crystallinity degree and permolecular structure on solubility of oxygen in polypropylene (PP) films has been studied. Solubility of O2 has been determined by conversion of alkyl radicals into peroxide ones with the help of EPR method in PP samples, subjected to γ-radiolysis at -196 deg C, as well as by gas isolation. Solubility of O2 as a function of crystallinity degree at 20 deg C is given and enthalpy values for dissolution of O2 are calculated. It has been established that solubility of O2 in PP increases linearly with a rise in the amorphous phase content and depends weakly on spherulite size and the method of sample preparation
