Thermal breakdown of polyacrolein prepared in presence of boron trifluoride etherate

Description
The thermal and themo-oxidative degradation of polyacrolein synthesized by a cationic mechanism has been investigated. It has been established that processes involving the decomposition of tetrahydropyrane rings at polyacetal bonds are the basis of the degradation. This results in the formation of carbonized residues that have considerable thermal and thermo-oxidative stability
