Description
It is emphasized to apply the prescribed target dosis not for a single point but in every case for a determined size and volume of the target. This is the target volume, wherein the ordered radiation dose should be applied. The absorbed dose within the target volume should as a rule be given as homogeneously as possible with a standard deviation not greater than +-10%. Application of target volume concept is discussed with regard to some special examples (nasopharynx, kidney, gynecological tumours). The target volume is a good basis for optimization of radiotherapy and development of criteria. This is also true for combination of radiotherapeutic methods in gynecological carcinomas. It is mandatory to make full use of the determination of the target volume concept for every single patient, if radiotherapy planning with or without computer has to be performed. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Es wird die Notwendigkeit hervorgehoben, die am Patienten verordnete Strahlendosis nicht nur fuer einen Punkt im Herdgebiet als sogenannte Herddosis, sondern fuer jeden Einzelfall die Groesse und Ausdehnung dieses Herdgebietes, das die verordnete Dosis bekommen muss, als Zielvolumen festzusetzen. In der Regel wird im Zielvolumen die verordnete Strahlendosis moeglichst homogen, wenigstens mit einer Schwankungsbreite von nicht mehr als +-10%, anzustreben sein. Die Anwendung des Zielvolumenkonzepts wird im Grundsatz und anhand von klinischen Tumortypen (Epipharynx, Niere, weibliche Genitalkarzinome) besprochen. Das Zielvolumenkonzept erweist sich als ausserordentlich fruchtbar fuer die Optimierung der Strahlentherapie und Entwicklung von Optimierungskriterien. Auch in der Kombinationsstrahlentherapie der gynaekologischen Karzinome fuehrt es zu nuetzlichen Einsichten und zur Verbesserung der individuellen Planung. Die moegliche Erweiterung der strahlentherapeutischen Begriffsbildung wird dargelegt. Es wird fuer unumgaenglich gehalten, bei jeder einzelnen strahlentherapeutischen Planung, mit und ohne Elektronenrechner, die begrifflichen Bezuege zum Zielvolumenkonzept herzustellen.
