Numerical study of mixing and flow field in microchannel with mixing chamber
Description
The computational fluid dynamics has been applied to study the mixing of fluids in microchannel with mixing circular chambers designed to create self circulating flow operating at low Reynolds number. The effect of two design parameters w/d and θ on mixing and flow field has been evaluated. Mixing has been evaluated using a parameter, called mixing index based on the variance of mass fraction. The presence of flow recirculation zone in the circular chamber increases mixing performance of the device. Mixing performance improves with increase in the value of θ. Higher mixing performance is shown at lower w/d ratio
