Co-operative areal training in Bohunice NPP
Creators
Description
The operator of a nuclear facility is required to verify, once every three years, the readiness of its staff and inhabitants living in the vicinity to manage an emergency situation. This year's training drill took place at EBO V2 in collaboration with the companies JAVYS and JESS, as well as district authorities in the Trnava region and selected municipalities. On the morning of 29 October a technological scenario was launched on the VUJE simulator in Trnava, coupled with extreme weather conditions - extremely heavy storm rainfall that caused local flooding which triggered the shutdown of diesel generators. The shift engineer classified the situation as a simulated event of the first degree, and ordered a flood control measure – the installation of flood protection sacks in the diesel generator room. Due to a landslide, a 400 kV pylon had fallen down and caused the failure of flood control measures. The Unit switched over to the self-consumption power supply until back-up power supply was automatically started. The EBO Emergency Commission in the emergency control centre took over control of the simulated event from the training shift engineer from the simulator.
