Structural features of cast high-zirconium refractories

  • 1. Gosudarstvennyj Inst. Stekla (USSR)

Description

X-ray diffraction and petrographic analysis have been applied to investigate the structure of cast high-zirconium refractory materials containing 55-85 % ZrO2 and 11-13 % SiO2. Established is the primary crystallization of free baddeleyite in the form of sceleton and dentritic crystals of the 0.08-0.3 mm size, interlayered with notable amounts of a glass phase. Intergrounth of baddeleyite and mullite are noticed as well as ultrafine precipitates of baddeleyite in a glass phase
