One-dimensional simulations of single temperature magneto-hydrodynamics for liner implosion experiments
- 1. China Academy of Engineering Physics, Chengdu (China)
Description
One-dimensional simulations of single temperature magneto-hydrodynamics (MHD) are described for solid liner implosion experiments in the 'FP-1' equipment. The set of MHD equations is solved by using implicit algorithm to avoid small time step limitations. Newton-Raphson iteration is used to solve the set of linear algebra equations. Split trick is used to avoid possible numerical instabilities caused by too much coupling in solving the set of highly nonlinear equations. The unique trick of 'approach step by step' are presented in solving moment equation to overcome convergence difficulties when inner surface arriving at axis. A formula of initial value for iteration is given as well as the other algorithms such as setting of virtual mesh automatically adjusting of time step. The Sesame database is used for equation of state. Bremsstrahlung loss is ignored, as temperature is not too much high. The computer results of solid liner implosion experiments for 'FP-1' equipment are presented
