Description

A recent ''elementary particle'' treatment of positron longitudinal polarization in allowed nuclear β decay by Holstein is extended to include neglected induced scalar and pseudoscalar contributions. The effect of these additional terms on two precision polarization experiments suggested as tests of the conserved vector current, second class currents, and Fierz interference, while small, is not negligible and complicates the interpretation of results. Recoil order effects in proposed polarization tests of parity-symmetric theory are described
