Description
The assessment of nuclear fuel cycle based on the ATW (accelerator-driven transmutation waste)technology has been carried out. The ATW is subcritical instrument which used to transmute spent fuels. To prepare transmutation, partition of spent fuels should be done. Partition is the process to separate the elements in the spent fuels, 'before transmuting its minor actinides and long lived fissile products in subcritical nuclear reactors. Products of the transmutation process are the relatively stable elements which have short lived fissile products, and electricity. The concept of double strata nuclear fuel cycles as an implementation of ATW are also studied. In this concept, the first strata is the transmutation process in critical nuclear reactors, and at the second strata is the transmutation process at the subcritical facility called ATW system. Some strategies in implementation of double strata cycles are also proposed. (author)
