An improved technique to minimize cation adsorption in neutral solutions

  • 1. Florida State Univ., Tallahassee (USA). Dept. of Chemistry

Description

The adsorption to glass of M(III), M(IV) and M(VI) species from solution of pH 8 is a major experimental problem in studying the behavior of the actinide elements in neutral systems. A technique involving silanization of the glass surfaces plus micro filtration reduced the rate of adsorption of Am(III), and UO2+2 to acceptable levels but the loss of Th(IV) remained high. (orig.)
