Description
A study of CHES feasibility has been carried out taking into consideration hydrogen and helium probing beams for the present choice of diagnostic ports at ITER. It is shown that the low energy (50-100 kEV/u) helium beam is more suitable for the investigation of inner part of the ITER plasma than hydrogen one at the same initial beam density. Using HeII (304 A) line for the diagnostics requires one order less beam power than that for HeII (4685 A) line provided the first line is detected with efficiency close to that in the visible range. The way to solve this technical problem is discussed. (author) 2 refs., 4 figs
