Investigation into heat exchange conditions under air and air-water cooling with application to large size rotors quenching

Samples of 08Kh18N10T and 25Kh1MF steels, heated up to 900 deg C, were used to investigate heat exchange conditions under water and air-water cooling in order to determine heat transfer coefficients and to use it for the calculation of cooling conditions of large billets under quenching in sprayers. It was established that sample material didn't produce noticeable effect on heat transfer coefficient. It depends, mainly, on water discharge and achieves the maximal value at water discharge growth from 2.3 up to 4.6 kg/m2·s
