Development and project application of advanced light water reactor

Description
The development of advanced boiling water reactors was completed in 1985. It is positioned as the third light water reactor improvement and standardization plant of Ministry of International Trade and Industry, and at present, it is at the stage of the detailed design of the actual project. The ABWRs are those in which the operability, safety and economical efficiency as the general characteristics of a plant were heightened further by the heightening of plant performance, the simplification of systems and the construction of compact buildings. In particular, internal pumps brought about the improvement of operability and safety of plants together with the characteristics of improved control rod driving mechanism, in addition to simplifying and compacting reactor systems. The reinforced concrete reactor containment vessel which is constructed as one body with the building has the compact structure and strength which can sufficiently withstand hypothetical accidents, and contributes to the safety. The test on these improved technologies for the practical use was completed, and it was shown that the expected objective can be attained. The ABWRs are adopted as No. 6 and No.7 plants in Kashiwazaki Kariha Nuclear Power Station, Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (K.I.)

改良型沸騰水型原子炉(ABWR; Advanced Boiling Water Reactor)は、1985年に開発を完了した。通商産業省第3次軽水炉改良標準化プラントと位置付けられ、現在、実プロジェクトの詳細設計段階に移行している。ABWRは、プラントの高性能化、系統の簡素化、建屋のコンパクト化によって、プラント総合特性としての運転性·安全性·経済性をより一層高めたものである。特にインターナルポンプは、原子炉系統の単純化、コンパクト化を促進するほか、改良型制御棒駆動機構(改良型CRD;ControlRodDrive)の特性と相俟って、プラントの運転性·安全性の向上をもたらした。また建屋一体型鉄筋コンクリート製原子炉格納容器は、コンパクトな構造と仮想的な事故にも十分耐えられる堅固な特性を持ち、安全性の向上に寄与している。写真I-1に概観図を示す。これらキーとなる改良技術は、国産化を前提とした実用化のための試験も完了し、初期の目的が高水準の特性をもって達成されることが示された。このABWRは東京電力柏崎刈羽原子力発電所第6,7号機として採用されている。 (日本)Additional details
