Stopping power and viscosity of the quark-gluon plasma
Description
Various approximations for the collisional energy loss of a high energy quark or gluon in the quark-gluon plasma are compared. The radiative energy loss is estimated and shown to dominate. The shear viscosity coefficient of the quark-gluon plasma is considered. Implications for signals of the formation of a quark-gluon plasma and for its expansion phase in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions are discussed. (orig.)
