Adequate dose in radiotherapy of malignant tumors: theoretical aspects in the problem

  • 1. RAN, Tsentral'nyj Ehkonomiko-Matematicheskij Inst., Moscow (Russian Federation)

Description

Mathematical model for assessing adequate dose (AD) is proposed. It is a component of mathematical model describing the probabilities of arising radiation complications in normal organs and tissues in case of malignant tumor radiotherapy. Analysis of the model is performed, their properties are studied, and techniques for determining their missing parameter on the basis of clinical observation are discussed. Using AD for the description of radiation effects on body organs and tissues makes it possible to significantly simplify the procedure of comparison of radiotherapy alternative plans for choosing efficient radiotherapy variant
