ICRP Publication 28 comprises the following sections: scope of the report; general considerations; indications for action; physical, clinical and biological data for assessing severity of exposure; principles of urgent medical care of abnormal exposures; administrative action following an abnormal exposure; organization of medical services in anticipation of abnormal exposures; appendix 1 - preliminary screening of workers who may have incurred an abnormal exposure; appendix 2 - symptoms and clinical signs of radiation sickness; appendix 3 - action to be taken following exposure. The publication also includes a statement from the 1978 Stockholm meeting of the ICRP: the 1977 recommendations (ICRP Publication 26) were reviewed and points were identified for clarification.
