Assessment of radionuclides in waters with respect to radiation protection of population
Description
Factors affecting dose reduction are discussed with respect to the ICRP 1977 recommendation on population radiation protection. The dose reduction system uses two principles, viz., all necessary exposures should be as low as is reasonably attainable from the economic and social points of view, and the dose equivalent in individuals should not exceed the limits set for the given exposure type. Attention is devoted to the assessment of radionuclides in waters. Two methods are pursued, ie., measures aimed at reducing radioactive material content in water, ie., waste water control prior to discharge, and measures aimed at radioactive material trapping or at choosing alternative sources with a lower radioactive material content.
