Description
Full text: Being presented with a lot of applications in the technological context, ceramics, especially hydroxyapatite (HAp), has gained considerable attention because it presents specific properties, such as chemical similarity and biocompatibility with bone and dental tissues of the human body [1]. Features like these put it as a promising biomaterial for coating prostheses and implants. Coupled to these important properties, to have antimicrobial activity of the biomaterial combined with a drug which gives the biomaterial power capacity of antibiotics. This work aimed at the synthesis of hydroxyapatite and the incorporation of drugs, verifying its effectiveness by microbiological tests. The synthesis was done by aqueous solutions containing precursors, Ca and P by co-precipitation (CP HAp) route. After synthesis, the biomaterial is rinsed and dried 3 times. The incorporation of the drug was performed by adsorption, in which a mass of HAp was immersed in a volume of drug solution, staying on a shaker table for a time of 24 hours. The characterization of the synthesized HAp CP was made by: DRX, IFTR, SEM, TEM, TG / DTA and Raman. Microbiological testing occurred through direct contact in Gram-positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus (SA10) and Gram-negative Escherichia coli (EC7).
