In-Vitro studies on distribution of radio-elements (Co, Sr, Cs, Ce, Pu, Am) in bovine blood and serum

  • 1. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay (India). Health Physics Div.

Description

Behaviour of radioisotopes of Co, Sr, Cs, Ce, Pu and Am in bovine serum and blood has been studied. The paper reports on the dialysis of the radionuclides across cellophane membrane in bovine serum and distribution of the radioisotopes between clot and serum in bovine which simulate uptake into physiological fluids in man from pulmonary region and wound site respectively. Experimental data indicate that protein-binding does not necessarily inhibit transport of radionuclides in living physiological environment, but probably interferes with physical transport across membranes.
