Excitation of thalium by 20 eV electrons

Description

Elastic and inelastic scattering of 20 eV electrons by Thallium atoms were studied. Differential, integral and momentum transfer cross sections were determined for elastic scattering and for the excitation of the 6p 2P sub(3/2), 7s 2S sub(1/2), 7p 2P sub(1/2), 7p 2P sub(3/2) and 6d 2D sub(5/2,3/2) states. In the first ionization continuum a large number of autoionization features were observed and cross section for the intermediate electron shell excitation 6s6p22P sub(1/2,3/2) has also been obtained. Sao estudados os espalhamentos elastico e inelastico de eletrons de 20 eV por atomos de talio. Secoes de choque diferencial, integral e de transferencia de momento foram determinadas para o espalhamento elastico e para a excitacao dos estados 6p 2P sub(3/2), 7s 2S sub(1/2), 7p 2P sub(1/2), 7p 2P sub(3/2) e 6d 2D sub(5/2,3/2). No primeiro continuum de ionizacao foi observado um grande numero de detalhes com caracteristicas de auto-ionizacao e a secao de choque para a excitacao da camada eletronica intermediaria 6s 6p22P sub(1/2,3/2) foi tambem obtida.
