Simulation of air-kerma in the pulmonary depth, in water, and kerma-air at the entrance surface of the skin in neonates undergoing to chest X-rays

Description

This study aims to estimate, by performing simulations with a simulator object, Air-Kerma in the Lung's Depth, in water, and Entrance Surface Air-Kerma in Skin in children admitted in NICU. Was used an ionization chamber and TLDs for the measurements. The estimated values for the Air Kerma in the Lung's Depth, in water, ranged from (20.70 ± 0.58)μGy to (84.60 ± 0.20)μGy and for the Entrance Surface Air Kerma in Skin chest ranged from (22.3 ± 3.7)μGy to (119.4 ± 3.5)μGy. The simulator object was sufficiently adequate for the measurements, the results of which differ from the DRLS and other studies. (author)
