  • 1. Malaysian Nuclear Agency, Bangi, 43000 Kajang, Selangor (Malaysia)

Description

Full-text:Zebrafish (Danio rerio) have emerged as exceptional model organisms, revolutionizing our understanding of developmental processes and human diseases. With a remarkable genetic similarity of approximately 70% to humans and an astonishing overlap of 84% in genes associated with human diseases, zebrafish offer unparalleled opportunities for exploring biological mysteries. To harness the full potential of these aquatic wonders, it is crucial to establish and maintain healthy zebrafish colonies and ensure a robust supply of embryos for research purposes. This review explores into the techniques involved in zebrafish breeding and embryo handling, unveiling the strategies and considerations that optimize research outcomes. (author)
