Subcoulomb fusion of 16O in odd Sm isotopes

Cross sections for the formation of evaporation residues were measured for the reaction of 16O with the odd 147Sm and 149Sm nuclei at near barrier energies. The results are well described by statistical model calculations. Fusion cross sections as a function of energy do not show any unusual behaviour that could be attributed to the presence of unpaired nucleons. An analysis based on a one-dimensional penetration model that includes the effect of permanent quadrupolar deformations shows that the extracted values of the parameter β2 follow the systematics established by the rest of the even samarium isotopes. The dependence of β2 on the mass of the target nucleus indicates that the influence exerted by collective aspects upon the subbarrier fusion process increases rapidly as a function of the number of neutrons added to the spherical semimagic 144Sm nucleus. Se midieron secciones eficaces de formacion de residuos de evaporacion en la reaccion 16O sobre los isotopos impares 147Sm y 149Sm a energias proximas a la barrera. Los resultados pueden ser bien descriptos por calculos utilizando el modelo estadistico. Las secciones eficaces de fusion como funcion de la energia no muestran ningun comportamiento inusual que pudiera ser atribuido a la presencia de los nucleones desapareados. Al realizar un analisis basado en un modelo de penetracion de una barrera unidimensional, incluyendo el efecto inducido por deformaciones permanentes de tipo cuadrupolar se comprueba que los valores extraidos del parametro β2 siguen la sistematica establecida por el resto de los isotopos pares. El comportamiento del parametro β2 como funcion de la masa del nucleo blanco indica que la influencia que ejercen los aspectos colectivos sobre la fusion subcoulombiana aumenta rapidamente a medida que se agregan nucleones al 144Sm.
