Description
It is shown that a quasiclassical approximation exactly describes the spectroscopy of excited states of a nonrelativistic one-dimensional hydrogen atom. In the relativistic region, the quasiclassical approximation correctly predicts only one of two series of the exact theory. Sources of inaccuracy of quasiclassical results are revealed for the relativistic case. 15 refs
