Thermal cycling effect on creep of niobium alloy with silicide coatings

Description

Thermal cycling effect on the high-temperature creep kinetics of samples produced from niobium alloy with heatproof silicide coatings was analyzed and estimated on the basis of a statistical determination of the creep curve parameters. An approach is suggested to production of protective coatings taking into account a multifunctional purpose of certain layers or the coating as a whole. It is shown that a multifunctional use of the coating permits a decrease in its sensitivity to thermal cycling and an average 15-20% increase in the carrying capacity of a material with the coating under thermal cycling
