Description

A 57Fe in-beam Moessbauer spectrum measurement system has been developed at Heavy Ion Medical Accelerator in Chiba (HIMAC). Using 58Fe as the primary beam nuclide a secondary beam of 57Mn was implanted into solid samples. Introducing a β-anti-coincidence system with a thin plastic scintillation counter has improved the signal-to-noise ratio of the parallel-plate avalanche counter (PPAC) Moessbauer counter by a factor of 3. Metallic aluminum, magnesium oxide, aluminum oxide were analyzed as first samples. The temperature dependences of the Moessbauer spectrum of the samples were measured with a pulse tube closed cycle He cryostat. (author)
