Estimation of the Risks of Early Fatality for Internal Events in Korean NPPs

  • 1. Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, Daejeon (Korea, Republic of)

Description

The Korean nuclear power plants (NPPs) must be operated in a manner that they meet the quantitative health objectives (QHOs) stated at the Policy on Severe Accident. In order to assess the health risks to the public quantitatively, it is needed to perform the Level 3 PSA. Recently, as a result of Level 2 PSA, the accident source terms were evaluated for all the Korean NPPs. Thus, in this paper, we estimated the site-specific health risks of early fatality for internal events based on those data and site-specific meteorological and population distribution data. Also, emergency response scenarios were modeled based on the Radiological Emergency Response Plan of each site. We used MACCS21 code for the calculation
