Antiproton production in the nuclear fireball model of relativistic heavy ion collisions
Description
The ratio of antiprotons to π- produced in heavy ion collisions is computed within the framework of the nuclear fireball model. It is expected that at a fireball temperature of 100 MeV, the number of anti p's to π- is about 2 x 10-6. This is well within the limits of detectability of experiments now being planned. The experimental determination of this ratio should significantly improve knowledge of properties such as the fireball temperature and pion absorption in a collision. (orig.)
