Description
Complete text of publication follows. The ELCAD operates in the saturated water vapor, hence the correct determination of the TG gas temperature is based on the intensity ratio of the ultraviolet band heads of OH radicals. The Te electron temperature was received from the intensity ratio of the Cu-I 510.5 and 515.3 nm lines. Because of the atmospheric pressure, TGTe. The intensity distribution of the N2 337 nm band measured along the central, vertical axis of the plasma, referred to that the N2 occurs only in the outer shell of the discharge (P.Mezei et al., J.Phys.D.Appl.Phys., 38 (2005) 2804-2811). The radial emissivity distributions of the N2 337 nm and the OH 306 nm bands in the ELCAD plasma can be obtained by means of an Abel-inversion of the lateral intensity data measured at the selected wavelengths. Lateral intensity distributions were scanned through a pinhole entrance slit at several distances from the cathode and Abel-inversion of measured data was performed after a deconvolution calculation. The radial emissivity distributions clearly show the fact that entering of the components of the gas atmosphere into the core of the plasma is hindered while OH is a principal component there. Since the N2 is mostly present in the outer shell of discharge, where the rate of excitation is much lower than that inside of the plasma, the value of TG obtained from the emitted N2 bands, are significantly lower compared with that received from the intensity ratio of ultraviolet band heads of OH radicals.
