Description
This paper outlines the aims and the experimental approach of a research program which investigates the microstructure property relationships occurring during the destabilization and subcritical heat treatment of high chromium white irons. Selected results, dealing with the wear mechanism and work-hardening occurring during high-stress abrasion and the effect of retained austenite on the resistance, will be presented and discussed. 17 refs., 1 tab., 3 figs
