Some changes in chicken metabolism after effect of low-dose ionising irradiation

  • 1. Ustav biologie, zoologie, radiobiologie, Univerzita veterinarskeho lekarstva, 04181 Kosice (Slovakia)

Description

The effect of ionizing irradiation on the activity of two adaptive enzymes, total proteins and glucose in serum of poultry were investigated. Chickens were gamma irradiated with either a single whole-body dose of 3.0 Gy (output 0,079558 Gy · min-1). Analyses were carried out on days 1. 3. 14 and 25 after irradiation. The activity of alanine amionotransferase (ALT) was not significantly changed in all periods of experiment. The activity of aspartate aminotransferase (AST) was significantly increased on day 1 after irradiation. The concentration of total proteins (TP) was not significantly changed in all periods of experiment. The concentration of glucose (GLU) was significantly increased on day 14 after irradiation.
