MEB primary substations and the environment
Description
The commitment by Midlands Electricity plc in the United Kingdom to protecting the environment has resulted in an intensive programme of bund wall construction around our primary substation transformers. These walls are designed to contain any oil leak and so avoid the pollution of any adjacent water course, canal or public drainage system. Midlands Electricity is also committed to eliminating any nuisance to our customers caused by noise from transformers. All noise complaints are thoroughly investigated and acoustic enclosures, or screens, are provided where necessary. (4 figures) (Author)
