Proterozoic volcanism and its relationship to sulphide mineralization in Bushmanland
Description
This report covers geochemical and isotopic studies of metavolcanic suites that constitute a significant proportion of the Precambrian supracrustal rocks in Bushmanland. The specific objectives of this project include the establishment of compositional variation within the metavolcanic suites and to assess the effects of alteration and metamorphism, the establishment of geochemical and isotopic criteria which can be used for characterisation and correlative purposes and to provide a lithogeochemical database, the use of geochemical, age and isotopic data in order to provide constraints on the possible range of petrogenetic models and source rocks and to evaluate the role of these volcanic rocks in terms of the formation of the stratiform sulphide deposits in Bushmanland and in terms of overall crustal development in this region
