Processes risk analysis in organizations that implement quality management systems. Measuring instruments calibration laboratory example

Processes map of Measuring Instruments Calibration Laboratory (LCIM) accredited by ISO 17025: 2005 Standard was made. Risk was evaluated by AMFE (failures and effects modal analysis) method on four (4) processes (standards management, making primary data record, human resources management and purchasing) chosen as examples to show usefulness of this tool on organizations that implement quality management systems with a processes approach. The following failure modals were determined: 1) for Standards Management Process: calibration status and standards' physical integrity; 2) for Primary Data Record Process: data acquisition and execution calculations; 3) for Human Resources Management Process: staff presence and 4) for Purchasing Process: purchasing documents management. In the six (6) failure modals defined, thirteen (13) probably causes were found, four (4) with high IPR, three (3) with moderate IPR and six (6) with low IPR. (author)
