Laser alloying of nickel base alloy by refractory carbides
Description
A study was made on structure, geometrical sizes and properties of zones of laser alloying of nickel base alloy. Relationship of conditions of laser alloying to the types of saturating coatings and binding components in alloying coating and irradiated zone properties was established. It is shown that laser alloying (reinforcement) by carbide particles is realized only under irradiation with surface fusion, independently of binder type. However, values of microhardness of alloyed zones are sufficiently lower, as compared to hardness of initial carbide maerials. It was established that hardening during laser alloying could be achieved both due to solid solution saturation by products of carbide decomposition (Me, C) and due to introduction of initial carbide particles into fused metal
