Irradiation effect on properties of passive film formed on an AISI 304 type stainless steel

Description
The study by impedance and photoelectrochemical measurements of passive films formed on an AISI 304 type stainless steel shows that important parameters of the electronic structure of these films are modified under α irradiation, namely: width of the space charge region, donors concentration and diffusion length for minority carriers. The consequences of α irradiation on localized corrosion processes are discussed

L'etude par mesures d'impedance et photoelectrochimie des films de passivation formes sur un acier inoxydable du type 18-8 montre que des parametres importants de la structure electronique de ces films sont modifies sous l'effet d'une irradiation α: largeur de la zone de charge d'espace, concentration en donneurs et longueur de diffusion des porteurs minoritaires.
