Production of bars out of tungsten fluoride
Description
Tungsten rods up to 20 mm in diameter and 900 mm long were produced by hydrogen reduction of tungsten hexafluoride on the surface of a tungsten wire at 530-580 deg C. To maintain optimum conditions of precipitation it was necessary to increase the consumption of the gas mixture as the reaction surface diameter was growing. Data on tungsten precipitation rate, on completeness of the hexafluoride reduction and on purity and density of the product are reported
