Effects of gamma radiation on potato meristems
Description
The development of buds in potato tubers subjected to gamma radiation at doses of 3, 6, 8 and 12 Krad is studied at histological level. The irradiation was supplied at the beguining and end of the resting period, and the irradiated buds were observed at different stages of their development. Meristem's sensitivity depends on the state of activity involved at the moment of irradiation. Different parts of the meristem present different radiosensitivity, being the most radioresistant. Se estudia a nivel histologico, la evolucion de las yemas en tuberculos de patata sometidos a irradiacion gamma con dosis de 3, 6, 9 y 12 Krad. La irradiacion se realizo en dos epocas (al principio y al final del periodo de reposo) y las observaciones se realizaron sobre yemas irradiadas en distinto estado de desarrollo. Se observo que la sensibilidad de los meristemos era diferente segun el estado de actividaU que tuvieran en el momento de ser irradados. Las diversas partes del meristemo presentaron distinta radiosensibilidad siendo la capa interna de la tunica la zona mas sensible, y el orocambium la mas resistente. (autor)Files
