Electro acoustic and thermomagnetic occurrences in low-dimensional organic conductors

Description

The role of the Fermi liquid interaction in the electronic absorption of acoustic wave energy in low-dimensional organic conductors is investigated theoretically. It is shown that the inclusion of the Fermi liquid interaction when charge carriers with quasi-ID and quasi-2D energy spectrum exist significantly affects the shape of the oscillatory curves but the period of oscillations of sound attenuation ratio F with I / H and the positions of sharp peaks in the angular dependence F(O) remain unchanged when Fermi liquid effects are taken into account. The electronic attenuation of acoustic wave energy is analysed in strong magnetic fields when quantization of the energy of conduction electrons is sufficient. It is shown that the longitudinal acoustic wave attenuates very slightly witch confirms the fact that in the electronic absorption of acoustic energy in layered conductors take part a considerably greater number of conduction electrons due to the weak dependence of their energy on the momentum component along the normal to the layers. For transversally polarized acoustic wave the role of Joule losses in absorption of the acoustic wave energy has been clarified for different orientations of the magnetic field with respect to the layers plane. The behaviour of the thermoelectric force in low-dimensional organic conductors in relatively strong magnetic fields when there is no need of quantization of the electron energy and in strong magnetic fields where the quantization is necessary is investigated theoretically. It is shown that when the quantization of the electron energy is essential, giant quantum oscillations of the thermoelectric force occur. The dependence of thermoelectric force on the orientation of the magnetic field with respect to the layers contains detailed information about the charge carriers velocity distribution on the Fermi surface.(Author)
