Preparation of SrZrO3 non-radioactive films by self-spreading

Plane strontium-90 β-ray sources are widely prepared by ceramic methods traditionally. Thereinto, the carrier materials mostly adopt the two substances. One is TiO2 containing a reagent of help to become films; another is a kind of surface ceramic glaze with SiO2. However, the above preparation methods are neither ideal for the reasons of complicated craftworks, lower uniformity and more wasted-radials. For exploring a sort of relatively simple and taller using rate of radials from strontium-90, we need search a new solidify medium to become the carrier of strontium-90. We elected the zirconium-90 which given birth from the strontium-90's disintegration as its solidify medium, and prepared the strontium zirconate self-spreading films by in-situ reation. Strontium-88 isotope was used to simulate the whole craftwork. The circle self-spreading nonradioactive sources were gained on silicon and polishing zirconia respectively. Zirconia, reagent M and polyglycol played important roles in our prescription. M acted as a stabilizer to make redundant zirconate form a solid solution, and then these zirconate became a steady configuration. So the flaw which was brought from the change of zirconate crystal type on the sinter would be escaped. The last could reduce the surface tension of bead and promote the form of films. Also the existence of polyglycol was helpful to catch regularly circular membranes. (authors)
