Value of abnormal hepatic perfusion in the diagnosis of acute cholecystitis

Objective: To evaluate the mechanism of abnormal liver perfusion in acute cholecystitis. Methods: The clinical and CT data of 38 cases of acute cholecystitis confirmed by surgery and pathology were analyzed. All of the liver CT images were acquired in the arterial and venous phases after intravenous contrast injection. Results: Of 38 patients, 34 (89.5%) showed semicircular, patchy or plate-like contrast enhancement in the liver adjacent to the gallbladder in the arterial phase and normal washout in the venous phase. Conclusion: The abnormal liver perfusion around the gallbladder is a valuable CT sign in the diagnosis of acute cholecystitis. (authors)
