The key points of a French electric mix largely composed of renewable energies
Description
An ADEME's study shows that an electricity production mix composed of 100% of renewable energies is possible for a reasonable cost of 120 Euros/MWh including production, storage and grid. This scenario implies the inter-seasonal storage of the extra production of electricity under the form of gas. The most important share is due to wind power. The parameters that have most impact on the cost are: social acceptability, the costs of the technologies, the financing conditions and the level of the peak demand. For comparison the standard scenario leading to a share of 40% of renewable energies and about 50% of nuclear energy has a cost of 117 Euros/MWh. (A.C.)
