Influence of photonuclear reactions on the inactivation of bacterial cells under the action of bremsstrahlung
- 1. Akademiya Meditsinskikh Nauk SSSR, Obninsk. Nauchno-Issledovatel'skij Inst. Meditsinskoj Radiologii
Description
Effectiveness of high-energy bremsstrahlung in the inactivation of E. coli B/r cells has been studied. The bremsstrahlung with end-point energy of 23 to 26 MeV, in the absence of the electronic balance, is 1.4 times more effective than γ-radiation of Co60. The effect observed might be due to the recoil nuclei originating from the photonuclear reactions
