Transportation of low-level radioactive waste

Creators

  • 1. Dept. of Energy, Oak Ridge, TN

Description

Over the next two decades, it is estimated that the volume of nuclear wastes generated by nuclear power reactors, fuel fabricators and other nuclear related facilities will increase significantly. As such, transportation becomes an essential link in the total planning process for packaging, storage, and disposal of low-level radioactive wastes. An overview of the several alternatives available in the industry in the selection, procurement, and administration of a safe, efficient, and economical system for transporting wastes to burial sites is presented
