Description
The properties of neutron Bragg scattering from single crystals are analysed for a realistic geometry of the diffractometer, the dimensions of the monochromator and sample crystal, the width of the counter window, and the neutron source being taken into account. The general line of calculation follows that of Caglioti. The discrepancies observed between the results given in the present paper and those obtained for the geometrical approach used so far are discussed in detail. Some new analytical expressions are derived for the practical case of a small cylindrical sample. (Auth.)
