Description

Highlights: • The discharge control and timing synchronization module have been upgraded based on PXI devices. • The new central safety and interlock system is stable and reliable. • The upgraded network provides great support for the stable operation of the experiment. - Abstract: The main role of central control system (CCS) for EAST is to integrate, harmonize and supervise all of the control subsystems as well as the plasma diagnostic systems to support EAST device. The upgraded CCS is an expandable and real-time control system which has been developed for the EAST fusion experiment with four goals: (a) more stable process control and supervisory operation; (b) high-precision timing and synchronization; (c) more reliable interlock and protection; and (d) more stable network environment. Most modules are implemented in PXI platforms. The new CCS had successfully been applied to 2012 spring EAST campaign and the work had progressed nicely. This paper concentrates on the modifications of central safety and interlock system, discharge control system, and timing and synchronization system. The details about the system architecture, test results and networks deployment will be described in this contribution
